Myanmar Tourism Federation signed three years contract with US based tourism marketing agency January 17, 2015 THE Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) has signed three years contract with US based Solimar International Marketing agency in Yangon today, in order to attract more visitors to the country especially from North America. The contract was signed this morning at Inya Lake Hotel and the two parties agreed to work together to position Myanmar as an exciting and undiscovered destination for North American tourists. The overall goal of Solimar’s work with MTF is to support sustainable, long-term growth for the Myanmar tourism sector by attracting high-value and low impact tourists. Specifically the contact aims to effectively communicate the unique selling points of Myanmar to North American trade, media and tourists, to increase the number of North American tourists and their length of stay in Myanmar, to create repeat visitation and to support market access for small and medium size Myanmar business. According to the agreement, Solimar International will implement with five tasksto achieve these aims. Firstly Solimar International will open an MTF office in Washington DC and will respond to inquiries from tourists, travel trade and media. Secondly, it will work with media to identify compelling storylines and host press trips for top journalists from US. Thirdly, it will work to develop strong partnerships between Myanmar inbound and outbound North American operators. Fourthly, it will optimize Myanmar travel and create a robust online presence fro Myanmar Tourism Federation and finally Solimar will attend strategic trade events in North America on behalf of MTF. U Htay Aung, minister of Hotels and Tourism who chairs the signing ceremony described the agreement as milestone in the history of Myanmar tourism.
