Mystery lady steals 7-month-old boy from hospital A lady whose identity is yet to be established has reportedly stolen a seven-month-old boy from a hospital in Orlu, Imo State. The incident occurred on September 13, 2014 and the seven-month-old boy, Master Chibueze Nnamdi is yet to be found since then. The mystery lady is said to have breezed into Zinna Hospital and Maternity, formerly Umezuruike Hospital, Orlu at a busy period and took away the boy when he was fast asleep. His mother, Amarachi Nnamdi, a nurse at the hospital was assisting the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Samson Nwogu in the treatment of two accident victims who were rushed to the health facility by the police on the fateful day when the incident happened. Amarachi had left her son in the custody of a lady named Peace, a relative of a patient who had undergone a surgical operation at the hospital. According to the CMD, Peace said the mystery lady on coming to the ward first enquired to ascertain that Chibueze was Amarachi’s son. ‘Innocently, she was told Chibueze was Nurse Amarachi’s baby and she thereafter sat on a bench at the veranda,’ Dr. Nwogu informed adding that without suspecting anything, Peace later went out to buy tissue paper and on returning saw neither Chibueze nor the mystery lady. The CMD said Peace immediately approached Amarachi to enquire whether she had collected her son thus resulting in a search for the tot. Dr Nwogu disclosed that they made frantic efforts to locate the whereabouts of Master Chibueze including involving some policemen to mount surveillance at junctions around the hospital and Orlu town but all to no avail. The CMD further disclosed that he in the company of Nurse Amarachi reported the matter to the police who later invited him and four of his staff and clamped them in detention. Dr. Nwogu said he and three of his staff members were later released on bail. He also disclosed that one of his staff, Mary Iroka, a cleaner is still in detention owing to her inability to fulfill bail conditions. Dr. Nwogu said he has advised the police to explore the angle of family members of Amarachi who he heard did not approve of her marriage to Mr. Chikwado Nnamdi or the delivery of Chibueze. When contacted on telephone, Mr. Chikwado Nnamdi, a native of Obibi-Ochasi Community in Orlu LGA confirmed the theft of his son, Chibueze. He said he had not had any good sleep since his son was missing. He would want to police to help him locate the whereabouts of his son.
