Mystery solved! Thanks to everyone for posting their ideas about what the mystery artifact could be. Your answers mirrored suggestions by our staff, who also wondered if it was some kind of seam ripper or fork (or even an ancient embalming tool). A few of you suggested a weed puller and thanks to Antonio Veiga who posted a photo found online that clinched the identification.
