Myth #4: The cost of an item =its price tag Fact: With many purchases there are other additional costs after the purchase. When you buy a car, you must pay for insurance, fuel and maintenance. When you get a pet, you have to pay for the vet and food. Your computer will require software, your house will require paying taxes, etc. Lets not talk about the value/cost of maintaining a wife..... Its almost a given that when we begin a project we count the cost and estimate whether or not we can afford to complete it. Jesus gives us the example of building a tower. If a man was to not count the cost and go ahead and start building and have to stop, he would be ridiculed. Unfortunately we do not apply this principle when buying toys such as cars... Wise people look at the entire lifetime cost of something rather than just the immediate cash requirement.
