Mălâncrav, Transylvania. This superb village, seated between the hills, belonged to the Hungarian Apafi family, who received this domain as a gift from the Hungarian King. The church was raised in the 14th century and fortified in the 16th century. Inside the church you can admire the best kept Gothic paint from the 14th century. The Reform spared them, and today it seems that the sky covers the altar’s vault and the south wall of the church from Mălâncrav. 53 scenes from the Old and New Testament are painted here. The five levels belfry tower has an impressive height. The Foundation that functions under the patronage of Prince Charles, “Mihai Eminescu Trust”, renovated the Apafi Manor, fallen into ruin under the communist regime and immediately afterwards. Today it presents itself as a superb and exclusive destination for the tourists. touringromania/regions/transylvania/fortified-churches/fortified-church-and-malancrav-village-.html
