N.K.Amin , Gujarat cop is an accused in the Sohrabuddin and Ishrat Jahan fake encounter cases. Ram Jethamalani appeared for the NK Amin and when he ran out of legal ammunition this senior counsel resorted to bad mouthing activists in the court. ASG Pinky Anand, appeared for the CBI. Pre the Modi govt, Pinky Anand had on TV as BJP spokesperson justified the Ishrat Jahan encounter killings by the Gujarat cops. ASG Tushar Mehta appearing for the State of Gujarat in a related petition in the Supreme Court has stated on record that the State of Gujarat supports accused cop NK Amin. Given this state of affairs I filed for impleadment of Shamima Kauser, mother of Ishrat Jahan as a party in Amins bail petition. Sr.Advocate Huzefa Ahmadi and I appeared for Shamima Kauser and opposed the grant of bail to NK Amin. The Supreme Court has today dismissed the bail petition. Via Vrinda Grover
