NACF...Korea Prosperity & Happiness For the provision of a stable environment that enables farmers to devote their time and energy to their farms, NACF is engaged in several marketing and supply initiatives that include everything from production to consumption. The two main sectors of this business are agriculture and livestock. NACF’s primary concern is to increase farm income for farm households through the expansion of sales channels and the reduction of farm expenditures. Activities for the Production and Marketing of High-quality Agricultural and Livestock Products To create a foundation for the production of high-quality agricultural and livestock products, NACF has strengthened its activities in the promotion of GAP certification, as well as the dissemination of advanced cultivation technologies and on-site livestock consulting services tailored to the individual needs of member farmers. NACF is also expanding its Rice Processing Complexes (RPCs) and equipment to produce and market high-quality rice that is competitive against imported rice. In addition, NACF is operating modernized Agricultural Product Processing Centers (APCs) and Livestock Processing Centers (LPCs) for the realization of high value-added products and improved commercialization. In order to increase the market power of these high-quality agricultural and livestock products, grown and raised by our dedicated farmers, NACF is expanding joint marketing initiatives among member cooperatives and has created high profile co-brands, including “Haetsarae,”“Ansung Machum,”“Jiri Mountain Beef,” and “Morning Calm Pork.” NACF is also working hard to relieve farmers of the burden of excessive farm expenditures by the provision of farm supplies and tax-free fuels, helping them to concentrate on the production of high-quality products. NACF-Growing Closer to its Customers NACF is increasing the number of its Hanaro Mart megastores so that customers may have better access to safe and reliable domestic agricultural and livestock products, from 13 in 2006 to 50 in 2015. We also hope to increase the number of local agricultural and livestock markets, namely Super Supermarkets (SSMs), to 500 from its current 150. Moreover, we are committed to the enhancement of our online shopping mall, NH Shopping, to better serve our customers. Expansion of the Livestock Production and Supply System NACF supports key farming households, those who will lead Korea’s future livestock industry. We provide these households with comprehensive services such as farm operation capital, livestock insurance, consulting, inspection of livestock facilities, and prioritized sales. NACF also provides consultation on the raising of quality livestock via breed improvements for hogs, Hanwoo beef and dairy cows. We do our best to build a healthy livestock industry through the establishment of a consistent quarantine system. Also, to provide the best livestock products to our customers, we are expanding our livestock supply system through the operation of the largest and most modern livestock marketing complex in the country, the Eumsung Livestock Joint Market. In addition, we plan to expand the number of domestic meat brands to 15 by the year 2015 so that our customers can buy safe, high-quality meat products at reasonable prices. Environmentally Friendly and Safe Agricultural and Livestock Products NACF strives to produce and supply livestock products that can be trusted. At livestock farm sites, NACF has broadened its GAP, antibiotic-free, and HACCP certifications of agricultural products. It has also stepped up inspections of marketed products for chemical residues, place of origin, GMOs etc. NACF plans to establish an environmentally friendly sales booth in its Hanaro Club in Yangjae-dong to strengthen such brands as “Achimmaru.” The Establishment of Korea’s Best and Largest Agricultural and Livestock Product Company We believe in the hard work of our farmers and their dedication to producing valuable products. NACF is committed to the marketing of their high-quality products. It has established “NH Food” for the comprehensive marketing of processed agricultural food products. NACF’s goal is to make Korea’s high-quality agricultural and livestock products into world-renowned products through brands such as “Arumchan,” “Achimmaru” and “Tturanae.” In light of this, NACF is seeking to expand its export channels. Toward becoming the worlds best marketing group for agricultural and livestock products Evidence of NACF’s progress towards its goal of becoming the world’s best marketing group for agricultural and livestock products is its No. 4 ranking among the Global 300, a list of the 300 largest cooperatives in the world as compiled by the International Cooperative Alliance in 2007; among marketing & supplies organizations, NACF was ranked No. 2, after Japan’s JEN-NOH.
