#NAIDOC Week is held nationally each year to celebrate the history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is ‘Serving Country: Centenary & Beyond’, which honours all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who have fought in defence of our country. Staff around the country will join in the local community celebrations during NAIDOC Week where there will be morning teas, BBQ’s, art demonstrations, storytelling, basket weaving and traditional performances. Throughout the week I’ll be sharing stories of some of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members who bring a wealth of knowledge to the department. Join me in celebrating the spirit of NAIDOC Week from 6-13 July 2014. For more information about NAIDOC visit: naidoc.org.au/
