Leyhane of Engine 72 suffered a fatal heart attack while fighting a basement fire in a residence on Avalon Avenue. Leyhane had left the basement and collapsed while he was bringing in another fire hose. Leyhane had been a member of the fire department for 24 years. Funeral services were held in St. Basil’s Church on March 22, and he was survived by his widow, a son, his mother, and his brother.
