NAMM day 2, NAMM Day 2 As some of you know day 2 blew day one away when I walked into the conference hall and was told to avoid the Stevie Wonder line.. No. I will NOT be avoiding Stevie Wonder. Stevie Wonder is absolutely one of my all-time favorites. What is funny is right before Osubi Craig(percussion)and I got there we were listening to him!?! I dont know how I do it, but God seems to often let me in places I normally shouldnt be. For example: When I was in 7th grade MC Hammer came to Gainesville, and my ticket was on the 3rd level of the OConnell Center, so why was I in the front row of the show? So here is Stevie wonder, playing keyboards, and I stood directly in front, RIGHT IN FRONT of the keyboard he was playing? I took a picture of his fingers, because I dont think I have ever SEEN a picture of his fingers. He started playing Superstitious. Crazy. When he stood up to leave I told him I love his music, and I was listening to him before I saw him, and he reached out his hand and took mine, and said, Thank you. I missed MJ, but not him. THANK YOU GOD. After that I didnt speak for a few minutes, Did that really happen? I later went down to the Cole Clark guitars booth, which these guitars are made from Australia. Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, both whom I have met and are seriously the nicest people in the industry, play their guitars, and I understand why. The first day we were here I met played a couple of them. On this day the representative asked me to go on the road in a couple of months to PLAY THEIR GUITARS SO THEY CAN GET STORES TO SELL THEM.... Wait for it.... I will give you a guitar if you come. Yeah, Im going to end this story here. Are you kidding me?!?!? The last part of the day ended at the TAMA drum 40th anniversary party where, again, there was a large line of people trying to get in. Your boy was at the front of that line as well, and Osubi and I were kicking it with Beyoncés drummer. She is MAD COOL. When the doors opened it felt like the stories you hear of Black Friday. Everyone was sprinting to get a good seat at the show, and I dont know about you, but if people start running, I START RUNNING. They had the center section roped off for VIP, and the rest of the seating was off to the left and right. Why did I lift the rope and just walk to the center section and just sit like I belonged there? Well, if you had just met one of your Idols, and then an amazing guitar company asked you to represent them at a few stores, you would feel like a Very Important Person too. They kicked everyone out that tried to sneak in, but me. God, YOU ARE THE GREATEST! I watched the show in awe, and then went back to the hotel to rest up for my turn to shine! Day 3 will be us performing, and then Osubi and I going to Drake AND Lordes record label after Grammy party. Ill keep you posted. Deep down I know that the only reason I am here is because of my children. How I miss them so. CMc
