For better tomorrow, one must be mindful of today and take lesson from what happen yesterday. History have shown that whenever there is a natural disaster or calamity in any part of the country some will take advantage of that and used it for cheap political gain without any sympathy or consideration to the affected community. Does this sound like a hyperbole? Lest we forget that Jude Imagwe the senior special adviser to president on youths and students was factional NANS president that have the sympathy of his political Godfather “Mr fix it” which give him offer hand to get government recognition in lieu of Comrade Inne thereby became a rubber stamp to government wishes and admiration without any consideration to students aspiration or needs which turn students activism into money making venture more less commercial comrade. As NANS activities continue to flourish under the leadership of Yinka Gbadebo (Ayepele) with contempt and disdain from Nigerian students following their open disagreement with ASUU and ASUP over government policies concerning tertiary institution, the union caliber and prestige is about to restored as the NANS leadership is set to return to Zone A but the fear of not using NANS as a tool for endorsing the candidature of president Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 election by Jude Igwe rock out. As such the Ebola plaque or outbreak is set to use as a cover to get cheap political gain and halt NANS convention from holding despite the fact that NYSC orientation is currently on and stream II of NYSC will continue on September 1st for the states that missed it due to insecurity yet SSA to president on youth and student has set the ball rolling to see that this convention didn’t take place as scheduled. The good thing about NANSis that it has never exist without a faction but if at all we choose to continue as one entity then we have to be very careful, precise, meticulous and exercise restrain in the way we approach, manage and react to issues. We must engage in some symbolic act which shows that we are concerned about the fear, anxiety, hope and expectation of our people. I’m calling for zone “A” stake holders to be united and take note that we can not longer continue to be a lame duck and toothless bull dog in the comity of our associate. Enough is enough NANS is neither a students wing of PDP nor a Goodluck support group let there be a convection as soon as possible.
