NAPS FOOTBALL SUFFERS TOUGH LOSS TO NASSAU Navy Prep suffered a tough loss in Saturday’s game against the nationally ranked Nassau Community College football team by a score of 48 – 7. After Nassau started the game with a scoring drive Navy Prep responded with a drive that ended with a one yard run by quarterback Travis Marshall to tie the score. Unfortunately, the only other drive in which the Navy Prep offense came close to scoring ended with a blocked field goal. Following NAPS’ touchdown Nassau did not look back the rest of the game scoring 41 unanswered points. The number 11 ranked Nassau team featured a running game which thrashed the Navy Prep defense. The defensive stand-out for NAPS was defensive back Devin Harris of Arlington, TX who finished with 9 tackles for the game. The Navy Prep offense was plagued with troubles throughout the game, including missed assignments, penalties and not protecting the quarterback, which killed their ability to sustain drives. Navy Prep’s next football game is September 13 at 1400 in Annapolis, MD where they will face off against many of last year’s NAPS team now playing for the Naval Academy JV football team.
