NASAs next satellite will dish the dirt in order to monitor soil - TopicsExpress

NASAs next satellite will dish the dirt in order to monitor soil moisture globally. Launching next Thursday, Jan 29, SMAP (Soil Moisture Active Passive) will use its large golden spinning antenna to peer into the top two inches of the soil in search of the water lodged within. SMAP will produce a global map of soil moisture every three days and be able to monitor whether it is in a frozen or thawed state. Learn more about SMAP via its website: smap.jpl.nasa.gov/, and follow the mission on social media: @NASASMAP on Twitter and https://facebook/NASA.SMAP here on Facebook.
