NASS Primary: Plot to attack PDP officials in Ebonyi uncovered Ahead of the Saturday, 8 primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party for the House of Representatives aspirants in Ebonyi state, a group of youth under the aegis of Concerned Ebonyi PDP Youths said it has uncovered plot of “disgruntled elements” to attack the PDP NWC officials who are to conduct primaries. National Issue gathered that last Saturday primaries for House of Assembly aspirants were boycotted by the state governor, Chief Martin Elechi because of the disenchantment from the concluded wards delegates’ lists, which Elechi vehemently rejected. The group in a statement explained that the suspected ploy to attack the officers is tailored to disrupt the primaries and cause confusion among the party faithful and the state in general. National President of the group, Comrade Ebele Okum explained that they had remained peaceful in the face of the confrontation, noting that they would not seat and watch any agents of impunity drag the State into anarchy. The group alleged that the plot was to attack them on their way from Akanu Ibiam International Airport to Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital. He said that many youths in the State had been rendered jobless by the sudden sack of the Development Centre Coordinators, Management Committee members for the fact that they expressed their opinion against impunity and imposition of persons and issues on people of the State. According to him “as we were watching that, the local government chairmen in all our 13 local government councils have been sacked through a suspected arrangement of the State government. That means the loss of jobs by 28 Development Centre Coordinators, 13 L.G.A chairmen, 65 Supervisory Councillors, 260 Special Assistants and 13 Women Development Officers. Is this not a government turning against those who voted them into power? “Again, we have noticed the allegations that some people have raised allegations against the Police Commissioner, Ebonyi State command and the High Court Judges who have all along proven to be men of high integrity and ability. Our suspicion is that some people want to discredit these men who have ensured our security so that they agents of impunity will come more heavily on us, save us Mr. President from these confronts, the President said. Okum called of the Federal Government of Nigeria to be more on the alert of activities of the State government as it concerns the security of the peaceful members of the state branch of the PDP who are opposed to imposition of candidates.
