NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS (NANUS). PRESS RELEASE!!! Sat. August 23, 2014. *****NANUS REJECTSS THE CLOSURE OF OOU***** Egalitarian greetings to our gallant and ever dogged comrades at home and in diaspora. It is no more news that the Student Union leadership of Olabisi Onabanjo University OOU have been on the struggle for their school fees reduction for the past few months now. One will think that Ogun state Government will be considerate enough to have yielded to their demands, but reverse is the case. Sen. Ibikunle Amosun has failed them twice. At first he promised to reduce their tuition fees to 50000 if he emerges as the governor of Ogun State. They came out en mass and gave him their mandate, hoping that he will do the needful, instead he failed them. OOUites continued paying the obnoxious tuition fee for 3 years without complaint. Few months ago, they decided to make consultations and consolidation with the state government to remind them of their promise, and as this was not yielding any positive result, they were left with no other choice but to employ the last C of Aluta. They went peacefully to Abeokuta last week to remind Governor Amosun of his promise to OOUites and he pleaded with them to give him a week to resolve the issue. One week is gone and Governor Amosun has ordered the closure of their citadel of learning for NO JUSTIFIED REASON. HE HAS FAILED THEM AGAIN. Let me state it without fear that the National Association of Nigerian University Students NANUS is completely battle ready if the state government refuses to withdraw its orders. We completely reject the saturation of the university environment with security men as their is no reported case of riot in the premises. Failure to do this, then the state governor should be expecting a delegation of our gallant comrades from the four corners of the Nation. VIVA ALUTA!!! Signed: COMR. EGWUONWU EMMANUEL, Coordinator, NANUS South West Zone COMR. BHADMUS ADEDAM
