NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND THE ABSENCE OF APC GOVERNORS IN AKURE We - TopicsExpress

NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND THE ABSENCE OF APC GOVERNORS IN AKURE We all share Fmr. Gov. Bola Ahmed Tinubus scepticism, but a lot of us are students of history! So, for us, the best place to express this scepticism is at the Conference of unique ethnic nationalities. As students of history, in 1964, UPGA decided to boycott the federal election. The boycott was almost total in the East, UPGA boycotted the election in the West, but the Akintolas NNDP, an alliance in NNA went to the poll. There is never going to be a good time for the National Conference. Come and help people push the insertion of Sovereign in the National Conference which is even now being relegated to National Dialogue. It is your job Mr. Tinubu as the leader of your people to come and make sure the reason for our national scepticism never materializes. When the dust settled, there was a re-run of the election in the East. And so, a minority party, so much hated by most people in the West went to represent the West in the House of Representatives in Lagos, since no re-run was allowed in the West and there was no sufficient defence of the majority people of the West by National UPGA. History would have repeated itself if not for PRONACO, AFENIFERE and some ODUA groups in Akure on Friday. Four Governors in the South West were on fools errands holding on to their boss Mr. Bola Tinubu and therefore Buharis position. Gov Aliyu has indicated that the North will be represented and we are most assured that the Indigo Ime-obi are going to be at the conference with the recommendations that protect Ndigbo. It is a shame that there are many people who share Mr. Tinubus scepticism, but they are smart enough to know that their absence will not stop the conference. It is a shame that the collective wisdom of Govs Fayemi, Aregbesola, Ajimobi, Amosu and Fashola will be sacrificed at the alter of incomprehensible politics! It will be nice to know how Akande, the interim Chairman of APC, feels in all these. However, he who holds the purse strings wins the day. Pa Omojola made the last and supreme sacrifice in Akure while answering the call of principle and country Pa Omojola went to Akure not blind to the possibility of deceit on the holding of this conference. He probably would have preferred the conference to be sovereign, but realised we must all cease this moment to actualise what we have advocated for years. 2015 election which is probably at the top of the agenda of those who are blind to this opportunity is not as important as this conference which some people are now calling dialogue. This conference may obviate the structure of 2015 election to the collective happiness of the Nigerian people. The Okurounmus committe has said publicly that there is NO no-go area, which means the framework this committee is developing may be as good as Sovereign National Conference. If people in Mr. Tinubus camp just focus on 2015, isnt it possible the conference itself may come up with another system which may satisfy all? Let us use wisdom here to fight evil in our society. Knowing people in Mr. Tinubus camp, we know they mean well for the part of Nigeria they represent, but this wellness can only be resolved in the design of a new Nigeria which allows all unique ethnic nationality to be heard, acknowledged and exercise the real human right not hurled on them by the generals who ruled this country for so many years. We hope Tinubu and his minions will rethink their losing battle and show up in Lagos the next time the Okurounmu committee comes there. We hope they will be prompted by patriotism and their professed desire for the integration of the South West to come and present the merit and demerit of what Jonathan is trying to do. Have your thought on record so that you can say we told you so in later discussions. There is never going to be a good time for the National Conference. Come and help people push the insertion of Sovereign in the National Conference which is even now being relegated to National Dialogue. It is your job Mr. Tinubu as the leader of your party to come and make sure the reason for our national scepticism never materializes.
