NATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP STRATEGY ON ITS WAY For those of you who are out of the country for studies, work, trainings or whatever reasons, I’m pleased report to you that the much needed ‘National Entrepreneurship Strategy’ is well on its way almost getting geared up for implementation. This long awaiting document has been initiated by Ministry of Labour in consultation with relevant stakeholders with a generous support from UNIDO (thanks to them both). I understand the groundwork and preliminary consultations began since previous year and today MoLHR put together a great discussion forum aiming to produce more inclusive strategy document. Hats off to the Ministry of Labour! The strategy document clearly portrays various mechanisms to create an environment that is conducive to starting/operating new ventures. The whole initiative was geared towards instilling entrepreneurial values in the society hoping to change the mindset and attitude of the people, creating awareness to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs, help and facilitate viable and sustainable ventures, promote creativity and innovation, eliminate entry and exit barriers ultimately aiming at fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial culture. The strategy sees entrepreneurship as a powerful job provider thereby also making significant contribution to national building in terms of mitigating issues related to unemployment, rural-urban migration, trade deficit and eventually contributing to the socio-economic development of the country. I must say this is a timely initiative at a time when our country is attempting to achieve economic self-reliance by diversifying income sources through creation of local ventures that are viable and sustainable in the market. It is exciting to note that this very exercise clearly indicates that entrepreneurship is unarguably recognized as one of the driving factors behind our economy. Loden was represented by our two officials to make our contribution in this very important document. For those of you who have creative and innovative ideas, the time has come for you where you can bring life into your long-held business dreams.
