=NATIONAL NEWS= Hon. Fofie Apprises Agenda for Prosperity By Melvin Tejan Mansaray Honorable Amadu Fofana representing Constituency 109 has in an exclusive interview with THE TRUMPET newspaper disclosed that one year is not enough to judge the successes or failures of the APC government’s Agenda for Prosperity – A4P implementation in the country. Highlighting the successes of the A4P from a lawmaker’s perspective, Hon. Fofie noted that despite public, CSO and Media criticism of dismal performance by the A4P, hardship is everywhere in the world, but it is undisputed in Sierra Leone that things are moving contrary to what opponents say. “Let us wait and see what the coming years will bring, assessing now is too early,” he pointed. He further said that the first year of the A4P focuses on restructuring, reflecting back on what they inherited and setting up modalities for continuity. This he cited that the President is stressing on performance contracts, hiring and firing (restructuring) members of his team for effective service delivery. When asked to comment on the opinion that some members of President Ernest Bai Koroma’s government are not fit for the job, he said that is to be left with the President to decide as he appointed them. As part of Honorable Amadu Fofana’s personal appraisal, he explained that his one year as an A4P MP has ushered in progress in aspects of water provision (dam at New England Vile and Dworzak, several taps Brookfield’s Congo Market vicinity adding that he arranged with Guma to supplying water daily to the hillside community of Sumaila Town and announced plans to construct a water dam for some other parts of his constituency. This development the Politician tied to part of the achievements of his APC party A4P for people of his own constituency. Hon. Fofie furthered that his role as an MP is to first make laws, represent the people and do oversight functions and stated that as Mp’s they have been trying to cut down waste in MDA’s and that they also in one year enacted several laws which they believe will help change the lives of people. ‘I have been meeting, working and resolving problems among my constituents for betterment of all’, he contextualizes his statement. On the flip side, he admitted constraints of over expectation but highlighted that they are being addressed bit by bit. Hon. Fofie cited land dispute between Sumaila Town and the Cullen family which he said he will not relent since the land is not the entire property of James Taiwo Cullen and assured sourcing funds for the construction of a health center on the said piece of land. At Dworzak, Hon Fofie described as difficult situation a palaver between church and mosque; two next door neighbors. The mosque complains disturbances from the church’s PA system at prayer time. But Hon. Fofie explained that mediation is ongoing for a peaceful co-existence. Honorable Amadu Fofana reflected that nothing much has changed for him between life as a politician and that of an ordinary man as he had been involved in development and serving his constituents even before he was elected. “It is a continuation of my work and service to constituents and humanity,” he said and reassured that his remaining four years will be something to write home about as many lives should have been changed. “We will add value to Constituency 109 for the laughter and celebration of all,” he noted.
