NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS (NSBE) BRINGS FREE STEM CAMP TO PHILADELPHIA SUMMER ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE FOR KIDS (SEEK) FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL BE ENTERING 4TH GRADE - 6TH GRADE IN THE FALL. IF YOUR CHILD MEETS THE CRITERIA PLEASE APPLY RIGHT NOW Registration Information Please be sure that the information you provide is the student’s information unless otherwise specified. Register each child separately. On the registration page it will ask what Organization or Chapter are you from please put Urban Youth Racing School. Please pay close attention as you are registering as there are few steps! Registration link is at the bottom of this email. Program Capacity To participate, students must be enrolled in 3rd-5th grade at the time of application (student’s current grade level). Approximately 100 students are accepted per grade level, totaling 300 students. Program Information Cost: Free Duration: Three (3) weeks per site Days: Monday-Friday Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm *Before/after care is NOT PROVIDED or COORDINATED by NSBE. Students MUST be dropped off no earlier than 8:30am and picked up no later than 3:30pm. *Please be advised that due to the nature of the program, at this time SEEK is not equipped to accommodate students with special needs, individualized education programs or behavioral challenges who require specialized attention and/or instruction. Program Dates & Location Philadelphia, PA Parent Orientation: July 18 - REQUIRED Time: 5pm-7pm Location: Delaplaine McDaniel School Program Dates: July 22 – Aug 9 Student Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm Meals will be provided Parents must provide transportation Program Location: Delaplaine McDaniel School 1801 S. 22nd Street Philadelphia PA 19145 Location Phone Number: 215-952-6380 Parent Orientation Due to the high demand of the SEEK program, we require that students participate in the entire three (3) week duration of the program. Students who are unable to meet this requirement will forfeit their spot in the program for the current program year, but will be eligible to reapply the following year. We require all parents attend a mandatory parent orientation and registration session held on the Saturday before the program begins (date and location TBA upon acceptance). Parents who do not attend the registration will forfeit their spot to a student on the waiting list. If you are unable to attend the mandatory orientation, you must arrange for a representative to attend on behalf of your child. Parental involvement is an integral part of the sustenance and growth of the SEEK program. Mentors Students will be instructed by NSBE collegiate students from across the country. The mentor to student ratio is 1:6. There are approximately 20-25 students per classroom with 5-6 mentors. REGISTER HERE
