NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BRIEF FOR UP COMING STORM 3.14.2014 #1 I realize that everyone is tired of snow and cold temperatures. But, yes another storm threatening, possible snow again. •Energy dropping down from the Pacific Northwest will combine with moisture from the gulf to develop a storm system that will move across the mid-Atlantic region Sunday into Monday. –Exactly how far north the storm moves will determine how much precipitation (and what type) Pennsylvania will receive. •The trend of the storm over the last few days has been a shift northward, which would bring Pennsylvania a moderate snow event –Southern half of the Commonwealth currently is targeted for the most significant snow •This storm has yet to take shape, so significant shifts in storm track and intensity are still possible – there is still high uncertainty. •In general: –A shift to the north of the storm track would move the axis of more significant snows into northern Pennsylvania, and introduce a greater risk of mixed precipitation across the south. –A shift to the south of the storm track would likely keep precipitation all snow, and potentially shift higher amounts south out of Pennsylvania –Current projections include the possibility for a moderate snow event across southern Pennsylvania Wm.
