NATIONALISTS V PAULINE HANSON. Of course, the Queensland press - TopicsExpress

NATIONALISTS V PAULINE HANSON. Of course, the Queensland press has attacked the campaign of Pauline Hanson, launched of late in the Lockyer electoral district (see below). However, people reaching towards a nationalist politics and who have fallen away from the official One Nation and the Australia First Party as ever, have raised serious questions about the latest return of Pauline Hanson. The programme of the Pauline Hanson One Nation seems to us to be crafted to avoid the past. Whatever happened to Australia is being swamped by Asians? Gone now, even though it might be thought that enmeshment with Asia is the key economic and political problem for Australia. I am not racist, says Hanson - which might mean she refuses to confront an issue that involves an issue of race. There are references to Sharia Law and Muslim terrorists and the need for tough border protection. Nothing exceptional. It sounds like the Liberal Party. There are references to control of water resources, house prices and foreign purchases and the evils of Coal Seam gas mining, which is all good - but there is no call for struggle against the foreign corporations, or the Chinese purchasers of property or for civil resistance against the miners. Hanson merely glides over issues claiming she understands and speaks for people and asks for votes. What is Pauline Hanson? A safety valve maybe? What is this new One Nation? A satellite of the Liberal Party? While Hanson travels about, her cabal of organizers purge the group, expel loyalists, take over the monies of the few branches. The ordinary loyal personal-voters dont know of this, but sadly very few care. But it has its effect in because few of the former One Nation activists will give her the time of day. The waters of betrayal have flowed under too many bridges for most of her former party leaders.. Last year, during the Federal election period, Australia First Party dealt directly with Hansons New South Wales minder Brian Burston. We had asked her via mail about her refugee policy. Burston refused to reply to us, particularly to the hard question about whether refugees (as they all themselves) should be deported. It seems, they shouldnt. So what was the point? We learned later that Hanson was for (yes, for) refugees, if they come the right way. We even saw ultimately that for all her chatter about Sharia Law, that Muslims could come too if they respected Australian norms. Then what was she saying? Was she just bolstering the flank of the Liberal Party? We refuse to believe that Pauline Hanson and her party are playing clever verbal games whilst believing the opposite. We reason that they are exactly what they say. They have soft policies that challenge nothing and they seek to lead any activism into an electoral cul de sac. And that means it is all one big zero. Some people in Queensland right now and others too may think we are somehow doing this great Aussie icon an unfair service. When we hear what the former One Nation people have said of the treatment of the party loyalists by her and by the cabal who lead the new Pauline Hanson One Nation, we can only conclude that we are dealing with a political fraud. Pauline Hanson will find no succour from the growing nationalist movement in Queensland or anywhere else. brisbanetimes.au/comment/that-thinking-feeling/pauline-hanson-is-the-last-person-australians-need-right-now-20141217-129h4j.html
