NAVFORSOL APPREHENDS 1 FISHING VESSEL, 14 CREWS FOR ILLEGAL FISHING IN QUEZON LEGAZPI CITY, 27 September 2013 - The Naval Forces Southern Luzon continue its efforts against Illegal fishing and vowed to eradicate said activities in Bicol and Southern Tagalog Regions resulting to the apprehension of 1 fishing vessel, 14 crew members and about 240 kilograms of illegally caught fishes at municipal waters off Real Quezon yesterday 26 September 2013. NAVFORSOL spokesman LT ROMEO R OLIVA JR PN said Diesel Fast Craft 321 (DF 321) with joint elements from NAVSOU3, Provincial Agriculture and fisheries and intelligence operatives on board intercepted F/B ANALYN while conducting Maritime Law Enforcement Patrol at vicinity 3. 5 Nautical Miles East off Clipper Rock in Real, Quezon. F/B ANALYN has violated Sec. 90 of the Republic Act 8550 also known as the “Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998” for using of Active Gears in Municipal Waters. Apprehended vessel, gears and paraphernalia have a market value of P 500,000.00 while the illegally caught fishes valued at 24,000.00 with an aggregate market value of P 524,000.00. LT OLIVA PN said that the operations are component of NAVFORSOL’S relentless efforts in supporting Anti-Illegal Fishing Programs of the National Government and in protecting the country’s Biodiversity, promoting Disaster Risk Reduction, Mitigation and Climate Change.
