ICC lauds Bangladeshs commitment to rule of law DHAKA, Jan 26, 2015 (BSS) - The International Criminal Court (ICC) highly appreciated Bangladeshs commitment to the court as well as to the concept of rule of law. Bangladesh received the appreciation as Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq called on ICC President Sang Hyun Song and its prosecutor Ms Fatou Besouda in their respective offices in The Hague, Netherlands, recently, a foreign office release said. Huq was in a day- long visit to The Hague to discuss further collaboration with the court and reiterated Bangladeshs unequivocal commitment to the court and the purpose it is willing to serve. The law minister told them how Bangladesh is determined to bring an end to impunity globally. During the meeting with the prosecutor Ms Fatou Bensouda, they discussed the issue of Birongona or War Heroine in Bangladesh and how the country is determined to pay the respect they deserve. Prosecutor Bensouda also appreciated Bangladesh leadership for its role in the field of law and justice and expressed their readiness to work with Bangladesh to furthering the purposes of the court. Deputy prosecutor Mr James Stewart, special assistant Mr Sam Shoamanesh, senior legal adviser Ms Shamila Batohi, and other high officials of ICC were present during the meeting. Bangladesh Ambassador to the Netherlands Sheikh Mohammed Belal accompanied the minister.
