NC raps BJP, PDP for plunging J&K into political uncertainty PDP allowed uncertainty in J&K so that BJP reaps harvest in Delhi polls: Rana JAMMU JAN 20 National Conference on Tuesday accused Peoples Democratic Party and Bhartiya Janata Party of holding Jammu and Kashmir to ransom by plunging it into political uncertainty, saying the impasse has resulted in administrative inertia. They want better of both the worlds; one, in terms of getting glued to power by whatsoever means and another by entering into an alliance which they feel shy of owning up, senior party leaders observed at a high level meeting at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, convened to discuss the post Assembly elections scenario. Chaired by Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana, the meeting was attended by senior party leaders and district functionaries of the Jammu region. The leaders maintained that the parties bedecked with peoples mandate during the recent elections were playing mind game in order to derive best in the bargaining process, which inter alia includes the issue of rotational Chief Minister and sharing of important portfolios. The formation of government was in the meantime being delayed because BJP understands that joining hands with ideologically divergent entities may impact its electoral prospects in Delhi, they observed. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are genuinely feeling let down and pushed to wall as PDP and BJP were serving as complimentary and supplementary to each other, the said, adding that such a tacit understanding was detrimental for politically sensitive state. They took dig at PDP for becoming a willing partner, ironically at the cost of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, to allow uncertainty so that BJP reaps harvest in Delhi polls. They maintained that the two parties brought the state to a political morass because of their polarizing tactics during the elections and the burden was now being put on the shoulders of the people. The rhetoric and tall claims made by BJP are falling flat, as nothing is moving towards the direction of development or mitigating the difficulties of border dwellers and flood sufferers, the Provincial President said while winding up the discussions. He said peoples yearning for development seems to be a far-cry in view of wrangling between the power brokers. He said the border people were suffering, especially during the ongoing acute winter conditions and similarly the flood sufferers, craving for relief and rehabilitation, have been virtual left high and dry. Mr Rana said the overwhelming participation of the people in biggest democratic exercise has been dishonoured by PDP and BJP, as power sharing has become a stumbling block because of their heightened ambitions. This is adversely impacting the administration, which feels rudderless and directionless, he maintained. The Provincial President lauded the party rank and file for taking the electoral results to their stride and renewing their resolve to fight back with full force. History is replete of instances when National Conference bounced back with renewed vigour after meeting the challenges, he said and hoped that the workers at grass-roots level will redouble their efforts to strengthen the party, which is ultimate answer to problems confronted by Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Among those present in the meeting included State Vice Presidents, Mr Rattan Lal Gupta and Th Kashmira Singh, Provincial Secretary, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Babu Rampal, Mr Brij Mohan Sharma, Mr Jugal Mahajan, Mr S. S Bunty, Mr Chander Mohan Sharma, Mr Sajjad Shaheen, Mr Bashir Ahmed Wani, Mr Dharamvir Singh Jamwal, Choudhry Haroon, Mr Gurdeep Singh Sasan, Mr Pardeep Bali, Mr Lally Khan, Mr Anil Dhar, Ms Dilshad Malik, Mr Rohit Bali and Mr M L Munshi.
