NCA Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah Meets with Ambassador of Tajikistan to Afghanistan September 18, 2013 – Kabul, Afghanistan H.E. Sharafudin Imamov, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Afghanistan, called on Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the National Coalition of Afghanistan on September 18, 2013. In the meeting, both sides discussed the current state of affairs in the country, exchanging views on upcoming 2014 presidential elections, security transition, reconciliation process, Afghanistan’s important relationship with Tajikistan, regional issues and possible ways of increased cooperation between both countries in the areas of trade, culture, business and power transmission. On his part, NCA Chairman Dr. Abdullah provided information on ongoing preparations for the presidential and provincial council elections and expressed his hope that with holding of credible and transparent elections, a peaceful political transition will take place in Afghanistan, successfully moving the country forward into a new stage. Dr. Abdullah also conveyed appreciation for the valuable role Tajikistan has played in the rebuilding effort of Afghanistan’s during the past twelve years. Ambassador Imamov pointed out the close relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan and emphasized his Government’s interest and commitment in further strengthening cooperation and collaboration between both countries on issues of mutual interest. He also indicated the importance of successful, inclusive and transparent elections to Afghanistan’s future stability.
