NCCU Alumnus U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, representing North Carolina’s 1st District, will be sworn in as chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015. Citizens of the district are invited to be part of this historic event by attending a Watch Party at Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville St., in Durham. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Congressman Butterfield is a Double Eagle and his district includes Durham and the NCCU campus. A Watch Party also will take place simultaneously at the Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education in Wilson, N.C. AN RSVP IS REQUIRED FOR BOTH LOCATIONS.
