NCDOT will run rolling road blocks on I-485 in both directions near Johnston Road (Exit 61) beginning Mon., Jan. 20, weather permitting. The work is part of the $83.3 million I-485 widening project to add one lane in each direction between I-77 and Rea Road. Crews will stage the rolling road blocks first on the inner loop from midnight to 5 a.m. Each rolling road block will last roughly 30 minutes, allowing crews to set girders at the future Johnston Road flyover bridge. Work will switch to the outer loop at midnight Tues., Jan. 21, with intermittent rolling road blocks planned until 5 a.m. Additional work is scheduled on Johnston Road at midnight Wed. and Thur., Jan. 22 and 23. Rolling Road blocks will first take place on Johnston Rd. northbound, switching to the southbound side the next night. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. each morning.
