NCJW/LA has 2 great internship opportunities this fall for undergraduate or graduate students. Heres info on the Policy Internship: Reports to: Maya Paley, Director of Legislative and Community Engagement Policy Intern: Work with the Director to coordinate NCJW/LA’s legislative and policy work including researching and keeping track of legislation on the state, local, and national levels, advocacy through social media, grant-writing, coordinating our legislative working groups, and helping coordinate our Human Trafficking Outreach Project. Interns will also have an opportunity to publish a blog, write letters of support and opposition to legislation, plan events, attend coalition meetings and conference calls, and lobby with NCJW/LA. Interns either receive school credit or a stipend. Internships are for enhancing education pursuits in the advocacy non-profit setting. National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles, founded locally in 1909, is a non-sectarian, grassroots based nonprofit organization. NCJW/LA takes a progressive stance on the many critical issues facing women and their families and strives to protect individual rights and freedoms for all. Its efforts are implemented through programs of community service and social action consisting of Advocacy for progressive social issues; Women Helping Women Community Counseling and Support Services for women, children, and families; Women Helping Children Art and Literacy Programs for Youth, Jewish Women’s Conference of Southern California, and Council Thrift Shops, whose proceeds, along with grants and private donations, benefit the many community services these programs provide.
