NELSONVILLE MAN’S COMMUNITY CONTROL REVOKED; PLEADS GUILTY TO TWO NEW INDICTMENTS Derek S. Hall, 24, of Nelsonville, Ohio, appeared before Judge George P. McCarthy on January 21, 2014, and entered a change of plea to two indictments, in case number 13CR0432 to two (2) count of Theft, both felonies of the fifth degree, and two (2) counts of Forgery, both felonies of the fifth degree; and in case number 13CR0445 to one (1) count of Receiving Stolen Property, a felony of the fifth degree, one (1) count of Forgery, a felony of the fifth degree, one (1) count of Possession of Heroin, a felony of the fifth degree, one (1) count of Petty Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree and one (1) count of Misuse of Credit Cards, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Hall also admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his community control in case numbers 09CR0079, 09CR0345 and 09CR0383. Judge McCarthy sentenced Hall to a total of twenty-four (24) months in the State Penal System for the 13 cases, to be served consecutively with the remainder of his previously suspended prison term of four (4) years and eleven (11) months in his 09 cases. Prosecutor Blackburn reports that “in case number 13CR0432, on September 18, 2013, and September 19, 2013, Hall did take two (2) checks belonging to another individual, without permission, and wrote them out to himself and cashed them; in case number 13CR0445, on September 27, 2013, Hall did enter the Twilight Boutique and used a credit card that did not belong to him without permission. Law enforcement officers called to the scene located Heroin on him. Hall’s community control violations in his 09 cases stem from the incidents in the 13 cases.” The two (2) new indictments were investigated by the Athens Police Department and the Athens County Sheriffs Office.
