NEPTUNE CITY — Authorities seized four dozen bricks of heroin in a Friday afternoon raid at a West Sylvania Avenue apartment. Two people who lived in the apartment — Carl Laine and Geneeja Walker — were arrested in the operation, which came after a two-month investigation by the Neptune City and Tinton Falls police departments, along with the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office Narcotics Task Force, said Ed Kirschenbaum, Neptune Citys director of public safety. Authorities seized about 2,400 bags of heroin, or 48 bricks, from the apartment, located at 401 West Sylvania Ave., Kirschenbaum said. The heroin is valued between $12,000 and $48,000, he said. Authorities also seized $4,900 in cash and a 2010 Acura model TL, he said. More: Heroin epidemic at the Jersey Shore Laine, 32, was charged with possession of heroin in excess of 1/2 ounce but less than 5 ounces with intent to distribute, possession of heroin and endangering the welfare of a child, Kirschenbaum said. He was taken to Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township, where his bail was set by Judge John T. Mullaney at $100,000 with no option to post 10 percent. Walker, 29, was charged with the same offenses and posted the set $25,000 bail. Their photos were not available.
