NETWORK LOBBY The Catholic voice is loud and strong on the need for a fair farm bill that does not hurt hungry families. Individuals and groups, including the Catholic Bishops, National Catholic Rural Life Conference, Catholic Charities USA, Catholic Relief Services and NETWORK, are calling for adequate funding for food stamps (SNAP). As NETWORK and others reminded Congress in a letter, “SNAP reaches the neediest and most vulnerable people in our country. The average household has an income of only 58.5 percent of the federal poverty level and 83 percent of all benefits go to households with a child, senior, or disabled person.” We are calling for justice and compassion.
