CALIGARI (1919) Thursday, October 17, 2013 @ 6:00 pm Arrow Park, 1061 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, NY Enjoy a hauntingly delicious meal and a movie at beautiful Arrow Park, 1061 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, NY on Thursday, October 17, 2013, beginning at 6:00 pm. Gretchen Weerheim, Executive Director of the Neversink Valley Museum will host a screening of Frankenstein (1910 Edison Studios Version) and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919). Filmed in 1910, Thomas Edison’s film studios created this 16-minute version of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein over three days in his studio in the Bronx. Thought to be lost, it was rediscovered in a barn in the 1970s. It is the earliest film version of this often remade and retold tale. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is from Germany, and is the story of a madman recounting a murder. This film’s style offered inspiration for directors that created horror films and film noir. Everyone who attends will certainly partake of a monstrous and wild night. Be there and be scared! A three-course dinner begins at 6:00 pm, the films begin at approximately 7:00 pm. The cost for Dinner and a Movie is $24.95 per person. The evening ends at approximately 9:15. Reservations can be made by calling (845) 545-0520.
