NEW 160,000 FED EX EXPANSION PROPOSED...IRVINGTONS SUNNYSIDE BANK HOSTING MEET THE AUTHORS EVENT THURSDAY...COAT DRIVE IN HARTSDALE EXTENDED TILL END OF MONTH Members of the Greenburgh Town Board met with representatives of Fed Ex today to discuss a major new development proposal in the Elmsford section of unincorporated Greenburgh (near the Ice Skating Academy). Fed Ex is proposing to build a 160,000 sq. ft. (footprint) 2-story Fed Ex Distribution Facility (1st story warehouse/distribution facility; 2nd story parking) off of Fairview Park Drive along what is currently a private road (Waterside Drive). As part of the project the applicant proposes to upgrade the existing private road connecting to Fieldcrest Drive, and offer it to the Town. The existing site contains a golf driving range, which would be replaced with the Fed Ex facility. In addition to site plan approval (Planning Board), the project requires a Planning Board steep slope and wetland/watercourse permit, area variances from the ZBA and a special permit from the Town Board related to the road way dedication. Sunnyside Federal Savings & Loan Association has their offices at 56 Main Street in Irvington. On the third Thursday of the month they hold special events. This Thursday its meet the local authors of some terrific books. January 15 from 5:30-7:30. No need to RSVP or stay the entire time. Just stop by to sample some great food, have a drink AND meet local authors! Sarah Castillo provided me with an update on the coat drive she is organizing. This is her memo... just wanted to fill you in on the coat drive. It is still going on. The Hartsdale New York Sports Club has agreed to extend it to the end of January due to the volume of coats that came in even after the New Year. So far, close to 100 coats were delivered to the White Plains Salvation Army. There were even several coats with tags on them. The Salvation Army was so happy. They were going to distribute them in a few days. Good timing with this frigid weather. The NY Sports Club is located on E Hartsdale Ave in Hartsdale. PAUL FEINER
