NEW ADDRESS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE OMBUDSMAN Last week many citizens visited our office seeking legal help. We are pleased that they found our new address at Scharlooweg 41. This weekend we will place our business name-board with our logo in front of our office. This week the incoming President of the Joint Court of Justice of the six islands, Mr. Evert Jan van der Poel LL.M., paid us a courtesy visit. We were honored to receive him and appreciate this gesture. We also had the pleasure to receive the new Consul General of the United States, Mr. James Moore and his Vice Consul. We thank them for accepting our invitation and sharing their thoughts with us. Now that we are established in our new office we will continue preparing the Third Curacao International Conference that will be held next September 16-19, 2013 at the WTC. We will also continue our efforts to start giving advice regarding the rights of children and adolescents next month. Next week we will meet with the members of the Justice Committee of Parliament for the first time. The Justice Committee - on our request - has also been entrusted with the affairs of the Ombudsman on behalf of Parliament. As soon as we finish furnishing our information room, we will start organizing information sessions for students, government officials, organized groups of citizen and other organizations interested in receiving information regarding the institution of the the ombudsman.
