NEW ADVICE FOR GETTING THE BEST AIRFARE For years I have told you that to get the best deal on a domestic airline tickets you should shop on a Tuesday afternoon six weeks before the flight. Well, a new study by the Airlines Reporting Corporation, ARC, says that has changed. ARC is an airline-owned company that gather’s flight data. New information shows that even though new flights are often introduced on Tuesday the cheapest day to buy is actually on Sunday. Buying six weeks out has changed to buying anytime between 50 and 100 days before the flight. Passengers who combine the two new rules, buying on a Sunday between 50 to 100 days before the flight date will save you, on average, $110. For international flights buy on a Sunday between 150 and 225 days before the flight. Do both of those things and the average price of an international flight drops from $1368 to $906.
