NEW AGE AND CHRISTIANITY The New Age (term has faded because the New Age has mainstreamed) has always borrowed Christian terms but is doing it more lately. I use this page partly to help demonstrate how the New Age sounds, so that it can be recognized. Sometimes, the New Age can sound almost Christian: ==At the Return to the Heart gathering we will explore how the unique teachings of Jesus Christ can help us become a living conduit of love — a love that is at once radically transcendent and immediately immanent, a love that itself reflects the sacred union of heaven and earth. This, after all, was one of Jesus’s most important messages to humanity: that we are all of two natures, both fully human and fully divine.== But if you read far enough on this New Age site, you see the errors: ==We should consider taking the much more difficult road of actually subjectifying ourselves with Jesus Christ, inhabiting Christ consciousness in a direct and immediate way and experiencing for ourselves the mysterious union of earth and heaven, of time and eternity, and of humanity and divinity that Jesus Himself embodied.== And they even quote Scripture: ==While we should always remain cautious as to which parts of Scripture we interpret as literal truth, there are some parts can only be taken literally, and none more so than the words of the apostle Paul: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.== WHAT IS MISSING? What is missing is that man is fallen into sin and needs reconciliation with God, but his can only be done through faith in Jesus as the Son of God and Messiah. He is no mere enlightened teacher or spiritual master, but the 2nd Person of the Trinity, co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. He has rule over all powers, both in heaven and below. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians 1:19-20 ...when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
