Leadership 2020 is all about inspiring, motivating, influencing and developing leaders 2020 and beyond, it is my desire that in the year 2015 as youth we become dynamic leaders. As we start the New Year let us endeavour growth and elevation as leaders. Oftentimes I have realized that we write down our resolutions and goals for the year but we maintain an old mind-set that we had the previous years. I firmly believe that a new year should birth a new mentality that brings about new opportunities. One will probably ask what a dynamic leader is. Dynamic leadership entails some of the following characteristics:- 1. Someone who serves organizational mission, vision and values instead of personal power needs. 2. An individual who knows when to lead, when to manage and when to stand down. 3. A person who sees problems and obstacles as invitations to outgrow the perspectives that created them and to embrace higher perspectives to transform them. 4. Someone who measures his and other’s leadership abilities by their ability to empower others. 5. A person who knows the stage a developing leader is in and engages them at the appropriate level and empowers others by engaging their greatness more than by instruction. 6. An individual who progressively clarifies and refines their unique point of view by integrating input from self-reflection, study, mentoring, coaching and feedback. Dynamic leaders are persons of good character. They tell the truth, keep promises, and have the moral courage to stand up for their beliefs, even when it is hard to do so. They respect others and themselves. As we serve in our communities, workplaces and families let us remember dynamic leadership is a journey.
