NEW CLASS STARTING JAN 9TH - Mechanics Hall ALL SEWN UP - Sewing class Beginners - Learning to use a sewing machine, starting off by making a panel of log-cabin patchwork, to practice sewing in straight lines, maintaining a consistent seam allowance. Then learn additional skills such as inserting zips and linings. Use these skills to make cushions, bags, oven gloves, place mats, quilts, pencil case - all manner of things. Improvers - for those who can sew but want to develop more skills and produce good quality, well finished products, including clothes, for themselves or others. How to correctly use commercial patterns and tricky techniques such as piping, binding quilting, and buttonholing will be included. Ideal for people who want to make things for the family or to sell at markets, fetes etc. Advanced: Aimed at competent dressmakers, this course will teach participants how to make basic body blocks which can be used to create personal clothing patterns from scratch. Pattern altering and adapting will also be included. From there they can go on to create bespoke garments and outfits, learning more advanced skills and techniques as they go along - to complete individual projects to a professional standard.
