NEW FRAUD ALERT The Larimer County Sheriffs Office has seen an increase in reports of citizens receiving telephone calls from someone claiming to be a law enforcement official and demanding money. Citizens are told they have outstanding arrest warrants with specified bond amounts and must send all or part of the money to various websites to avoid immediate arrest. The individual(s) making these unsolicited telephone calls are providing legitimate names and information of law enforcement employees making them seem credible. No law enforcement agency will contact a citizen via telephone and demand immediate payment to avoid arrest. These criminals tend to target the more vulnerable population which often includes senior members of the community. DO NOT send any money if you receive a telephone call like this. Immediately hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency to report the attempted scam. Information about this and other frauds/scams is available on the LCSO website at ow.ly/HoDAR ow.ly/HoDG2
