NEW GOALS!!!- After 40 days of training and a talk with my coach today I have some adjusted goals that are very practical and attainable. Still with the primary target and ultimate goal being to Win at Kona in October of 2014. That is a large major goal to be a world champion so like any big goal I have gone after I am breaking it down into bite sized pieces. This is broken down into 4 smaller goals leading to the major goal. Of course there are many races and competitions and minor goals along the way however here are the 4 steps and major races I have planned on the road to Kona. I have learned that training for an event like this is kind of like laying cement. You need time after each layer for the cement to dry and then you can build more on top of that. This is like the process for breaking down my muscles and body and allowing it to grow into a much faster and stronger being. So this is why the 14 months is needed and accomplishing this in 12 weeks is not a possibility. Each cycle is like 3 weeks of work and 1 week of recovery and I figure I need to repeat this cycle 3 times and then a bigger break so 3 cycles of 3. Based on this logic it will take me 9 months at a minimum and 12 months ideally to transform my body into the machine it needs to be. GOAL #1 is 8 weeks to set a foundation in place to work with and that will be accomplished in Tahoe. I plan to get a SUB 12 ironman. I think I can do 11:30 however I am leaving a 30 minute cushion. I am taking into consideration the elevation and the fact that Tahoe is supposed to be the most challenging US Ironman Course. I will do 6 hour bike, 4 hour marathon, 1:15 swim. This goal will be accomplished by September 22nd. Goal #2 is to get a sub 5 half ironman at the HITS in Palm springs in mid December. This is a 90 day goal. GOAL 3# is to go SUB 10 in CABO by MARCH 30TH. I expect to Qualify for Kona at this race and this is a 90 day goal from the HITS. LASTLY I WILL NOW TRAIN TO WIN KONA. If I qualify for the race then I belong there and I will have 6 months from CABO to focus and get a win! I am excited about the level of discipline and sacrifice this will require. I look forward to pushing myself the hardest I have ever pushed. After reading the alchemist I got clear that I must follow my dream. Being a world champion is special and this is my dream!
