NEW MOON FIT TIP: Are you ready for a fitness change but not sure how to begin? Do you find yourself taking a step and stopping? Be sure you are prepared! Success requires some forethought. Write out how youre going to incorporate these five necessary steps into your transformation: 1) Where will you find SOCIAL SUPPORT? Can you count on your spouse? If not, who will help talk you down and not encourage bad habits? 2) Who are you ACCOUNTABLE to? Yourself, certainly, but we often need someone else, someone we dont want to disappoint. 3) Have you PLANNED FOR TEMPTATION? You know your weaknesses, so you know what/when/where to avoid. Think also about replacing those temptations with activities or food that will help you through the worst of it. 4) Have you given yourself an INCENTIVE? Health, beauty? All good, but is there an intrinsic incentive, too, a reward you feel just from the new activity? If you find an exercise or diet or activity that you enjoy (as opposed to one you tolerate for its end result), youll be more successful. If you dont like lifting weight, maybe you like hiking? If you dont like running, maybe you like dancing? 5) Have you set a TIMETABLE? Set up short term and long term goals. Reward yourself for small successes along the way--rewards like a movie, a new outfit, a trip.
