This requires that you choose a load (any kind of weight) that allows you to perform repetitions-to-failure quickly enough that slow-twitch doesnt have time to recover and keep doing the bulk of the work, but slowly enough that you arent recruiting all motor units in tandem and thus leaving out the slow-twitch before you fatigue. 90 seconds can allow slow-twitch fibers to recover enough to refire. Fast-twitch can take days. This is one of the reasons cardio exercise (and moderate-intensity work of all kinds) is not effective for improving metabolism and can diminish your strength in the long run--it allows your slow-twitch to fire and refire and recruits few of your fast-twitch fibers.
