NEW TODAY: A former battalion commander, who spent two years in administrative limbo after video surfaced showing scout snipers from his unit urinating on Taliban corpses, has been promoted and given a new assignment. Col. Christopher Dixon was never accused of wrongdoing, but the commandant, whose involvement in the scout sniper cases erupted in controversy last year, stalled Dixons career nonetheless as the Corps meted out disciplinary action for those connected to the video.
