NEW TOPIC : HOW DO WE LOVE? Please feel free to continue to express your thoughts on any current post, especially concerning RACISM. This NEW TOPIC I sort of stole from Cheryl Horn, because to me it said volumes. HOW DO WE LOVE? gives us a lot to think about...its not long - but in a way, it is pivotal... Mick Mooney How do we love? I’ve pondered on this question quite a lot, and my conclusion is that love is not so much an action, in as much as it is an absence of the negative action of judgment. It has more about what you dont do. As Paul said, “I could do many things (give to the poor, prophesy, teach, move mountains) but if I dont have love, I am nothing.” Love can and does empower action, but love is not the actions themselves; love is something deeper. It is within our hearts. It is the way we see people. That is love. When we refuse to judge others but instead decide to think the best of them, that is love. Love does not point out the weaknesses of others. No, love is the strength that covers weaknesses with grace. The pointing finger is the power of the law, and the result is both failure and hypocrisy. But the eyes of love are the power of grace, and the result is divine every time. An active love is experienced by setting our hearts free from the enslaving addiction to judge others motives, and, instead, living with the liberty that comes with a free heart that sees others through eyes of grace. * An excerpt from my upcoming book An Outsiders Guide to the Gospel, out next Tuesday, Aug 26! amazon/dp/B00MWFCBRG/
