NEW YORK AREA – JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL: “HOLY GROUND: WOODY GUTHRIES YIDDISH CONNECTION” - Jacob Burns Film Center April 9th, 7:30 pm - A SPECIAL MULTIMEDIA EVENT hosted by Nora Guthrie! In the 1940’s, Woody Guthrie lived across the street from his mother-in-law, Yiddish poet Aliza Greenblatt in Sea Gate, Brooklyn. Both shared a passion for the arts, and worked collaboratively critiquing, editing, and influencing one anothers works. Join us on April 9th, as Nora Guthrie hosts a delightful multimedia program highlighting the artistic impacts of her father Woody’s relationship with his Jewish mother-in-law, Yiddish poet Aliza Greenblatt. Guthrie will present rare family and archival photographs, music – including excerpts from The Klezmatics’ Wonder Wheel and Happy Joyous Hanukkah – writings, and artwork that illuminate that extraordinary personal and creative relationship.
