NEW YORKERS, TONIGHT IN BROOKLYN.... A Gathering for Justice Since the summer thousands of people have been nonviolently demonstrating for a more humane world. It is a movement born of the pain of loss, of the injustice deeply rooted in our society. It is a movement which continues the call of our fathers, mothers, and grandparents; to bring about an end to what Rev. King called the “daily ugliness that transforms the buoyancy of hope into the fatigue of despair.” We want to end this violent system that dehumanizes all people, pitting race, religion, and ideology against each other. We are building a future rooted in equity and nurtured by justice for all. A future where communities can thrive knowing every life is valued equally. Tonight we gather in Herbert Von King park at 5:30pm and will walk by candle light to a house of worship (St. Philips Church at 765 Lafayette Ave) to gather in community for healing, conversation and reflection. Please only bring candles, lanterns, flashlights, and other small lights. Please do not bring signs or banners. Wear black. Bring your spirits. Bring reflections. Walk with your brothers and sisters in calling for an end to violence against communities everywhere.
