NEW ZEALAND Spring seems to have disappeared from New Zealand - TopicsExpress

NEW ZEALAND Spring seems to have disappeared from New Zealand after a big dump of snow at many resorts, causing the closure of a few. Mount Hutt (282cm) was closed on Thursday 5th September following 45cm of fresh snow, high winds and poor visibility. A temperature close to freezing means the snow is quite heavy on the lower areas but this is great for keeping the base depth up in the spring. North Island resorts experienced the heavy snowfall and strong winds too. Both Whakapapa (163cm) and Turoa (330cm) were closed due to the stormy weather on Thursday 5th September. 25cm of fresh snow fell at both resorts and they have a great base depth for the time of year.
