NEWRY & MOURNE ME/FIBROMYALGIA SUPPORT GROUP NEWS UPDATE!!!! HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY we couldnt have wished for better news for N.I., a PR Consultant working on ME and FMS issues! Updates will be provided as they emerge. The ongoing plans and discussions with The Patient & Client Council (PCC) for the February 2015 ME and FMS Workshop plus meeting with The Health Committee and MLAs, have today revealed that funding for a PR CONSULTANT is being provided by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and The Pain Alliance for N.I. (PANI) I didnt know who ABPI were either so rang them earlier and had a very interesting chat! ABPI Northern Ireland was established in 2008 and has had a full-time Director and Office Manager in place since 2012. We operate as a unified Leadership Team, working with the Chairs and Deputy Chairs of our 4 Strategic Working Groups and 6 Therapy Groups to develop and deliver strategy for ABPI NI. Our strategy is designed to deliver ABPI UK goals around improving the local operating environment and also to ensure the sustainability of our industry in Northern Ireland. We currently support 6 Therapy Groups specialising in the areas of Cancer, Immunology, Respiratory, Cardiovascular & Diabetes, Pain and Neurology. Our 4 Strategic Working Groups are structured to address Innovation, Value & Access, Partnership and Communication & Citizenship. The work plans of all 10 of our Groups are tightly focused on building relationships with stakeholders including the Department of Health & Social Services, the Health & Social Care Board, the Public Health Agency, Queens University, the University of Ulster and a wide range of patient advocacy organisations. Our aim in doing so is to improve access and uptake of innovative medicines; to measure and improve health outcomes; and to encourage inward investment through increasing research collaborations and awareness of NIs potential as a healthcare convention and conference destination. Strategy Our strategy is derived from the ABPI strategy for the UK: Measurable increase in contribution to NI Health and Wealth through generating credible evidence that demonstrates and builds the link between access, uptake and innovation capability Measurable improvements in uptake and access of innovative medicines through ensuring NI maximises opportunities presented by the new PPRS and removes current access barriers Development and implementation of Joint Working and Partnership projects resulting in improved patient outcomes and enhanced stakeholder relationships Effective, clear and transparent communication of our industry’s value and contribution to society ABPI Northern Ireland staff
