NEWS ALERT: Labor puts 10,000 jobs at risk and hurts local families Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry says state Labor’s refusal to support the Adani coal rail project was simply ‘extraordinary and could potentially cost Central Queensland at least 10,000 future jobs’. And the hard-working MP warned that Queensland’s female Labor leader was a ‘she-wolf in sheep’s clothing’ - because by failing to support a project as big as Adani rail, Annastacia Palaszczuk was contradicting Labor’s own promise of more jobs and apprenticeships. “Labor is unbelievable,” Ms Landry said, “when it comes to job losses, Central Queensland is bleeding like a shark bite! Yet, Palaszcuzk and her seven dwarfs have turned their backs on our region at a time when it is most vulnerable. “The fact State Labor refuses to back jobs and investment here is unforgiveable and Central Queenslanders should be very angry.” According to Adani, its combined mine, rail and ports projects are forecast to create at least up to 10,000 construction, mining and maintenance jobs in Queensland. Other forecasts suggest many more jobs. Ms Landry said: “In two years we have lost up to 15,000 coal related jobs here. CQ needs jobs so badly to help people support their families, and yet Labor has turned its back on Queensland’s biggest-ever coal industry project. “Shame on Annastacia Palaszczuk, shame on Bill Byrne (ALP Rockhampton), shame on Brittany Lauga (ALP Keppel), shame on Jim Pearce (ALP candidate Mirani), shame on Cheryl Thompson (ALP candidate Gregory) and shame on Graeme Martin (ALP candidate Callide). None of these Labor candidates back investment that leads to jobs.” Labor and Greens lie over Abbott Point: Meanwhile, Ms Landry has accused Palaszczuk and the Greens of lying about plans for the expansion of Abbott Point – the coal port facility to which Adani’s rail line will transport coal for export. “Bill Shorten and Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Labor Party, in fact, wanted to dump 38 million cubic metres of dredging sand from Abbot Point into the water at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef,” Ms Landry said. “Our Federal Coalition Government, however, is far more responsible in caring for Australia’s natural environment. The Coalition Government limited such activity to just 3 million cubic metres in the interest of the reef. That’s 35 million less than what Labor was going to dump. “There is now a review underway to determine if dredge soil could instead be placed on land, so it does not even have to go back into the water at all. The State Government continues to look at this option. “My position of living near the Barrier Reef is quite clear. There must always be balanced consideration for industry growth and job creation, our coastal lifestyle and the conservation of the reef itself,” the Federal MP said. A vote for Labor is a vote for the Greens and vice versa: Ms Landry said Labor was also proving that despite pretending to divorce from the Greens, ‘a leopard never changes its spots.’ “Make no mistake. Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor are snuggled in bed with the Greens as tight as Bonnie and Clyde,” Ms Landry said. “A vote for Labor is a vote for the Greens and vice versa.” Ms Landry said both the federal and state LNP Governments have solid environmental protection measures for the Great Barrier Reef – and also acknowledged the reef as an important part of Queenslands economy. “The Greens can say whatever they want in a reckless way, because they will never have the responsibility of running a state or a nation,” she said. Labor brought in 100% FIFO: Ms Landry said people should also remember that Annastacia Palaszczuk was a state government minister when her Labor cabinet introduced 100% FIFO that wrecked CQ towns like Moranbah and Dysart and impacted on Mackay and Rockhampton. “Yet, like Lady Macbeth, Palaszczuk tried to wash the 100% FIFO blood off her hands,” Ms Landry said. “This woman is just a she-wolf in sheep’s clothing, trying to fool everybody that she is capable of running the State. That is a scary thought.” Photo: I visted Adanis Carmichael site.
