NEWS BITS – January 21, 2015 > Mayor Beng Climaco has sought the intervention of Justice Secretary Laila de Lima and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas for the transfer of the 57 Abu Sayyaf members detained at the City Reformatory Center to Manila due to security risks. An official letter detailing issues confronting the Reformatory Center and the foiled jailbreak attempt last Monday will be forwarded to the two secretaries. > The mayor Wednesday (Jan. 21) categorically declared before the Congressional Ad Hoc Committee on the BBL that ZC should never form part nor be included in the Bangsamoro, now or never, neither any of its 98 component barangays, nor any part/zone/sitio thereof. She read a 5-page statement reiterating the city’s collective and firm stand on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law. > The City Council is in the final stage of deliberations on proposed ordinance 2014-45 establishing, operationalizing and regulating the use of the Integrated Bus Terminal in Divisoria with the final committee hearing conducted Wednesday morning (Jan. 21). > The Housing and Land Management Division (HLMD), as mandated under its urban poor affairs program, is overseeing the election of Zamboanga City Homeowners and People’s Organization Federation set on January 31 from 7am-3pm at the HLMD office in Pettit Barracks. Filing of candidacy will be Jan. 20-23 and Miting de Avance on Jan. 25—all at the HLMD office. > The HLMD is conducting ground validation and ocular inspection of areas for Home Material Assistance (HOMA) housing construction, areas affected by Z3R infrastructure construction and no return zones.
